NEW CABOT SNACK PACKS OFFER CONVENIENCE, PORTION CONTROL WITH PREPACKAGED 3/4 OUNCE BARS



Cabot, Vt. (October 10, 2005) – Responding to national trends toward moderation and portion control, Cabot Cheese introduces Cabot Snack Packs. Available Cabot’s signature Sharp Cheddar and 50% Light Cheddar, the new Cabot Snack Packs offer consumers eight pre-packaged ¾ ounce bars of naturally-aged cheddar cheese. Cabot’s 50% Light Snack Pack is the only individually wrapped light cheddar on the market.

“Consumers are increasingly aware that all snacks are not created equal,” said Rich Stammer, President and CEO of Cabot. “Our ¾ ounce bars pack protein and calcium into conveniently pre-packaged single-servings, making them a perfect snack for the office, classroom, or trail. They’re also a great alternative for trick or treaters during Halloween.”

According to SmartMarketing, consumers identified several key nutritional benefits that are important to them when selecting snack. They are: Calorie Content, Sugar Content, Carb Content, Presence of Nutrients, Presence of Protein, and Additive/Preservative Free. Cabot Snack Packs speak directly to these benefits.

A ¾ ounce serving of Cabot Sharp Cheddar contains 80 calories and 7 grams of fat (4.5 grams of saturated fat), while still packing in 15% of the recommended Daily Value of calcium (150 mg), and 5 grams of protein. Cabot 50% Light Cheddar has the same amount of calcium per serving and 6 grams of protein, with only 50 calories and 3.5 grams of fat (2.5 saturated).

Cabot Snack Packs are available for national distribution and are already appearing
in supermarkets, super centers and cheese shops. Customers can also order a box of 100 individually wrapped ¾ ounce bars from Cabot’s website at www.shopcabot.com.
