Contact Information: Montpelier, Vermont (February 3, 2005) – Though the Presidential elections are well behind us, Cabot Cheese is asking Americans to get involved politically once again by helping to elect the next flavored Cabot cheddar cheese. “We know that our cheddars lovers are the real trend makers with discerning taste preferences,” said Rich Stammer, President and CEO of Cabot Cheese. “So, we’re calling on them to help us choose which flavor to add to Cabot’s line-up of award-winning Vermont cheddars.” Cabot’s expert cheese makers started with Cabot’s distinctive sharp, white cheddar, and then added savory ingredients to develop three new flavored cheese options: Three Mushroom Cheddar with earthy shitake, hearty portabella and rich porcini mushrooms. Pesto Cheddar with classic Italian sweet basil and mellow garlic. Caraway Cheddar featuring the nutty flavor of aromatic caraway seeds. It’s up to voters to declare which new cheddar will be inaugurated into Cabot’s long and distinguished line of award-winning cheddars. Cheese lovers can vote for their favorite online at www.cabotcheese.com/flavorvote. The polls open on February 1, 2005 and will remain open 24 hours a day until April 2005, when all votes will be tallied. The winner will be announced this summer at the International Fancy Food Show in New York City, and introduced to consumers nationwide. Cabot Creamery Cooperative has been in continuous operation in Vermont since 1919 and makes a full line of cheeses, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese and butter. Best known as makers of “The World’s Best Cheddar,” Cabot is owned by the dairy farm families of Agri-Mark, the Northeast’s premier dairy cooperative.
