Springvale Farm
Landaff, NH

In 1980, Doug and Deb Erb moved back home to the Landaff farm where Doug's father began farming in the early fifties.

"We wanted to raise our kids in the country, and farming was in our blood," smiles Deb across the dining room table in the farmhouse with family photographs at every turn. Dairy farming goes back several generations on both sides.

Life here is a healthy mix of family, friends, farming and community service. Intensive rotational grazing of their eighty registered Holsteins is both environmentally sound, and helps Springvale Farms produce high quality milk for Cabot. At any moment on the farm, pagers can call Doug and Deb to service on local volunteer fire and EMS squads.

"That typifies life in a small community; everyone lends a hand— we love it here," comments Deb before we head up the hill to take a look at 'the ladies.'
