Hamilton Farm
Brattleboro, Vermont

Joesph Hamilton bought this hill farm in 1887. With Alice Winchester he raised three children on 150 acres, but the holdings have been expanded now to about 300 by Kevin and Jean Hamilton. They milk fifty Holsteins and supplement the milk check with sugar and timber.

Time moves just a bit slower on these high slopes; freed from her pen for warm winter's day romp in the pasture, a young calf, Fiona, rushes to the far end of the field where two beautiful chestnut colored horses stand, quietly whispering. They share quiet unspoken knowledge of generations on this soil; seasons of scarcity and abundance; cycles of seed-time and harvest.
